Rev. Dr. Yared Halche was born and raised in Ethiopia. He studied theology in Ethiopia, Norway and the United States. He earned his PhD in missiology from Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana, in 2009. Yared is married to Bethel and the Lord blessed them with two sons, Jasiel and Yiohanan.
Yared began his ministry serving as a youth leader in the Lutheran Church of Ethiopia during the difficult communist era. He began his professional career as a seminary teacher in Ethiopia, and continued as a missionary and mission developer in the U.S., where he has served as Regional Director for African Immigrant Ministry on the west coast, and as Pastor of a congregation in Indiana that included members from 17 countries. In addition to his work at St. Andrew which includes support of Amharic Ministry and other ministry and mission efforts, Pastor Yared currently serves on the Southeastern District Staff as Executive Director of Witness.
