While social distancing keeps us apart, the Spirit will keep us together! Here’s an update on what’s happening around our community of faith, even while St. Andrew’s doors must remain closed …
VIRTUAL WORSHIP has been made available online every Sunday and Lenten Wednesday since the closure began on March 15. As Holy Week approaches, that will continue! Watch for emails and posts about upcoming virtual worship opportunities for Palm Sunday (April 5), and for Maundy Thursday (April 9), Good Friday (April 10), and Easter Sunday (April 12). All virtual worship can be found online at this LINK.
BIBLE STUDIES & GROUPS are continuing “virtually” by God’s grace, through the dedication of our leaders and technology tools like ZOOM video conferencing. Interested in getting involved? Here are a few immediate opportunities. More will be coming in the days ahead:
- The Sunday Bible Study group led by Ken Austin invites everyone to join their virtual study of Lectionary (Seasonal) Scriptures, including the Palm Sunday readings for this weekend on April 5 at 9:00 am. To get on the list for an electronic invitation to this cyber-gathering, contact Ken at keaustin@verizon.net.
- The Monday Evening group invites all women to join a virtual session on Christian Meditation led by Leah Chrest on April 6 at 7:00 pm. To get on the list for a Zoom invitation to this session, contact Patty Belke at pbelke1@gmail.com.
- The Sunday Morning group led by Anne & Bill Harpster invites everyone to participate in a Virtual Prayer Meeting on Easter Sunday, April 12 at 9:30 am. To get on the list for a Zoom invitation to this gathering, contact Anne & Bill at harpster77@hotmail.com.
HONEYBAKED FUNDRAISER – CURBSIDE PICKUP! Order your holiday meal, or just some good stuff to keep you going through the week, and 10% of your purchase will be donated to our ministry at a time when it is much needed. Follow instructions to order and pay online at this LINK. Spread the word to neighbors and friends! Pickup will be on Maundy Thursday, April 9, from 4-6 pm at the main church entrance.
COMMUNITY CARE – If you need groceries or assistance with transportation and/or essential errands, just ask! If you are healthy, at low-risk, and willing to help others in this way, we need you. And everyone is welcome to help with our care ministry through home prayer chains and sending cards to those who need encouragement. Contact Faith Community Nurse Marilee Tollefson at mtollefson@mystandrew.org for more information.
CALLING ALL “SEAMSTERS” – If you sew and have time to spare, you can make cloth masks to help in this health crisis or simple quilts to share with those in need. Contact Sue Scherer at susan.quilts@comcast.net to get more information.
OFFICE REMINDER – In keeping with Governor Hogan’s latest guidelines, the St. Andrew office must remain closed. However, your church family is still here for you! If you have questions or need assistance, we are only an email away. Messages are being monitored regularly and the appropriate person will respond as quickly as possible.
DON’T FORGET TO GIVE – Worship God with your tithes and offerings in support of the blessed work and many obligations of St. Andrew’s mission through the mail (offering envelopes are mail-able!) or online at mystandrew.org/give.
