BBQ & Blues: What a Night!

BBQ & Blues: What a Night!

May 7 was a very special evening at St. Andrew as God’s house filled with members and friends seeking the savory taste of house-smoked BBQ and the sweet sounds of Delta blues! After a greeting and blessing led by Pastor Mark Hricko, over 250 people enjoyed the scrumptious meal, and another 50 came just for the music!

Under the direction of St. Andrew’s Praise Team Leader, Greg Twombley, a variety of performers shared their gifts and talents for a great cause.  Thanks to everyone in the evening’s awesome lineup including: St. Andrew Praise Band members Riki Schoppert, Jen Twombley,  Pepe Gonzales, John Quinn, Mark Carson and Greg Twombley;  St. Andrew teen musicians Matt McVeigh, Tim Hintz, Brendan Hughes and Michael Bosman; plus a number of musical friends and associates including Deborah Tidwell,  Colorz Gospel Voices from The Peoples Community Baptist Church,  Paul Carr,  Murray Green,  Alan Blackman,  David Hricko,  Ryan Keegan, Noah Johnson, and Max Nelson. Thanks as well to Stan Jackson and the “Holy Smoke” BBQ team for the great meal, to volunteers who assisted with setup, serving, and clean up, and to all those who came out to support the cause.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Todd Twombley Music Mentoring Fund, administered in memory of Todd by his father, Greg.  Based on a New York City Music Mentoring Program that Greg ran for 20 years, the fund is designated to assist at-risk youth by providing quality musical instruments,  music lessons, performance opportunities, and positive role modeling, encouragement  and mentoring for life skills that extend far beyond music.   We can’t wait to see how the Spirit will bless kids in need through the funds that were raised on this special night!  To God be the glory!
